Section VIP Director Rachel Forberger reports:

It was all soccer games and smiles at the 2013 VIP State Games at Village Park in Wellington Florida on January 20, 2013! Fifteen players and seventeen VIP Buddies, many who are returning from past years, participated. Coaches from the AYSO Camps led them all in a fun-filled soccer session. The soccer activities were followed by a delicious family picnic in the park pavilion where all of the players and Buddies received trophies. It was a great time for all involved and everyone is looking forward to 2014! If you have any questions about the VIP Program, please contact Rachel Caballero-Forberger: 561-762-9069 or rachelayso345@yahoo.com.

R705 RC Arno Silva Reports:

Our Marathon High School girls soccer team this year went as far as the state semifinals after winning district and region championships against Miami school powerhouses. This is a team that Chris Bull has been coaching since they were in our U12 division, and 2 years ago won the AYSO State Games in Wellington as a U14 girls team. All of the team members have been playing AYSO since the U6 division. Marathon High School has been having better boys and girls teams over the last 5 years, which shows that our soccer program is preparing our youth soccer players to face tougher competition as they move to our Middle and High School teams, even having only about 160 players every year in our AYSO program.

AYSO Region 705 Marathon in the Keys is preparing for spring soccer friendlies for AYSO teams U8, U10, U12 & U14 divisions. The friendlies will take place Saturday May 4 and Sunday May 5 at the Marathon Community Park. For more information please contact Arno Silva at Arnosilva01@yahoo.com

AYSO Section 14 has started a Twitter account to help you stay up to date on all that is going on in the section. Go ahead and “Friend” AYSOSection14 to receive all of the updates for coach and ref courses and interesting tidbits going on throughout the State of Florida.

AYSO Section 14 is in the process of transferring to a new website format. We are excited at our future information source which we are anticipating will be rolled out on March 1, 2013.

Like us on Facebook….our new facebook page……American Youth Soccer Organization- AYSO Section 14. Start the discussion, brag about your team, your region….have at it Section 14….show the rest of the organization how involved we all can be.

Section Meeting Season is Here - Register Today

Are you registered for your 2013 Section Meeting? Section Meetings are for all AYSO volunteers and are a great opportunity to connect with fellow volunteers from throughout your Section, further your training, get certified and learn new things in a variety of engaging workshops.

It’s truly an invaluable experience – all attendees will be armed with the tools necessary to give their Regions’ players the true “AYSO Experience.”

It’s important to note that every year, Section Meetings are centered around a theme – this year’s being RESPECT.starts.with.me. Respect should be the foundation of youth sports – and when we treat each other with courtesy, consideration and patience, kids pay attention and follow suit. Imagine if all AYSO participants embraced RESPECT.starts.with.me – that means showing respect for coaches, referees, players, parents and all volunteers, making the AYSO experience a positive one for everyone.

With the theme in mind, the 2013 Section Meetings present a chance for you to learn how to foster a respectful environment in your own Region – while also educating and training you for your job and its specific requirements.

The Section Meetings host an impressive lineup of workshops and roundtables; there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re a treasurer, CVPA, registrar, webmaster, Regional Commissioner, coach, referee, selling Region sponsorships, or have any other Regional role, Section Meetings have workshops with education materials just for you. There are also a few brand new workshops being presented this year, including:

- AYSO Amplified: A course focused on helping Regions effectively leverage the AYSO brand

- REC is Not a Four Letter Word: A session that gives Regions tips on how to compete successfully in their communities with other organizations

- 7 Simple Secrets for an Amazing Region Website: This course will tell you all you need to know to perfect your online communications both through your Region website and social media

(Note: not all workshops are available at all meetings. See your Section Meeting agenda for a complete schedule)

Topic-specific roundtables will also be offered at Section Meetings, giving volunteers a chance to connect and discuss matters face-to-face with National volunteers and staff.

AYSO’s Section Meetings will travel Section to Section, all across the country. Thousands of AYSO’s Executive Members will take advantage of the rare opportunity for fun, education and camaraderie. Make sure you don’t miss out!

If you have any item that you believe should be recognized by our section and announced to the world, please send it to me at Richardmschwartz917@gmail.com. I will take submissions up until each month’s end (or until I have enough to fill a page). This is designed to be informative but also with a touch or fun.
